Hot Bodies’ Ty Tessman outlasted and out-drove all of the pre-race favorites in tonight’s Pro 1/8-Scale Truck final to grab the biggest win of his career. From the start tone, TQ Ryan Cavalieri led a three-way battle between himself, Tessman, and Jared Tebo as the group separated themselves from the rest of the pack. Cavalieri’s sparkles teammate, Ryan Maifield, joined the leaders just past the 10-minute mark after battling through the pack from his 14th starting position. The top four trucks swapped positions both on the track and in pit lane, and Jared Tebo was the first one to crack; Tebo’s Kyosho ST-RR suffered a broken arm after getting collected in a wreck through the rhythm section. Tessman passed Maifield right before the halfway point, setting the stage for an epic battle between Cavalieri and Tessman. Cavalieri crashed with less than twelve minutes to go, giving Tessman a lead that continued to grow due to several mistakes by the defending champion. Cavalieri made a heroic charge in the final laps in an effort to catch Tessman, posting back to back lap records, but more bobbles in the last three laps left Cavalieri just over two seconds behind Tessman at the finish line.
